Alien Cowboys In The Desert

My partner has been telling me about one of his all time favorite BLM camp sights in Moab and the ‘strange experience’ he’s had while staying there. He wanted to go back to see if he would have the same experience again, as it had already happened to him a handful of times and was of course, curious to bring me along and see if I would experience anything myself. He never told me exactly what happened but I was intrigued nonetheless.

We were headed out to a festival and the campsite was a perfect stopping point for us. We arrived just a few hours before sunset, explored the area and then got to making dinner on the fire. Afterward, we walked to the top of the mesa to watch a very surreal sunset, as it sets direct middle. The stars appeared shortly after, scattered throughout the sky. We were invited by these wonderful Korean travelers for a drink, and while typically I would have graciously taken them up on their offer, I was beyond exhausted after a full day of travel.

I’m laying down in the car with my eyes closed when I feel something watching us. I sit up, look around and I don’t see anything so I lay back down. A few moments go by, I hear ringing in my ears and can feel two people watching us. I sit up, I look and again nothing. I waited a little while longer this time and when I sat up, I saw two figures that looked like alien cowboys for lack of a better words. They had these hats on and quickly tucked behind the trees upon my first glance, I then realized they had morphed into trees, as I knew those tree were not there prior.

I try to wake my partner up to tell him what just happened but once he’s sleeping, good luck waking him up unless it’s an actual emergency. I try my best to fall asleep, though my body begins remote viewing. I can see that we are being watched by thousands of little beings surrounding the car endlessly in every direction. It didn’t feel scary or threatening, more just that we were being observed.

When I woke up the next morning I immediately looked outside, none of the trees I had seen from last night were there. I told him about the alien cowboys, assuming he would think it was all so silly. Instead he casually laughed. Apparently that was exactly what he had seen every time he’d been here prior. He went on to explain that he had seen hundreds of little beings standing completely still, watching and observing. He said they would morph into the signs, the trees, the bushes, whatever happened to be around them, wearing what closely resembled a cowboys hat.

Now I sit here just as he did, wondering what would happen if I went back with a friend and said nothing about my experience beforehand. How many would see and be observed by the alien cowboys in the desert?

*I have intentionally left out the exact location of this campsite. Part of what made the experience special was it’s solitude and I’d rather not contribute to a quiet spot becoming overcrowded or impacted by increased traffic. Please always respect the land, explore responsibly, follow BLM regulations and Leave No Trace principles. Leaving every place better than you found them.
